What Are Nassau County Arrest Records?

Nassau County arrest records are official reports or documents that detail the arrest histories of individuals in the county following alleged felonies, misdemeanors, or infractions within the territory. These records are generated by law enforcement agencies with arresting power in the county, such as the Nassau County Sheriff's Department and Police Department. Therefore, individuals can find these records from the appropriate arresting agency or find it at the state level from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. Nassau County arrest records often contain:

  • Alleged offenses and previous indictments
  • Arrestee's demographics like name, sex, birth date, and so on
  • Arresting officer’s name
  • Date and time of the arrest
  • Location of arrest and detainment center
  • Warrant details

In some cases, these records may be on the frequency of arrest done by a jurisdiction within a year. The data contained is often broken down into incidents according to gender, age, race, and so on. Lastly, note that a Nassau arrest record should not be seen as proof of convictions.

Crime Statistics

According to crime data released by the New York Division of Criminal Justice Services, Nassau County recorded a total of 13,363 index crimes in 2018, marking a five-year low. Property crimes accounted for most reports, with 11,858 incidents, while violent crimes accounted for 1,504 incidents. Larceny-theft was the most common property crime with 10,178, while aggravated-assault was the most recurring violent crime with 951 incidents.

What Are Nassau County Criminal Records?

Nassau County criminal records are official reports or documents that detail the criminal histories and convictions of individuals in the county following involvements in felonies, misdemeanors, or infractions within the territory. These records are available and gathered from law enforcement agencies, courts, and correctional facilities in the county to provide a comprehensive summary of all the individual actions from the crime to the end of incarceration or probation.

Therefore, these documents include information from Nassau arrest records, case files, and others. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services is responsible for maintaining criminal records and processing requests for background checks from Nassau County and other counties in the state.

Interested parties can obtain copies of their own records by submitting a request to the department. Records provide general information such as the individual's name, date of birth, address, sex, race, and the offense for which he/she was convicted for. Records may also include an SSN or NYSID number as well as details of the subject's arrest.

To obtain a record on self, interested parties may be required to schedule a fingerprinting appointment with a recognized vendor. Members of the public will also be required to provide a copy of a valid government-issued ID.

How to Find Nassau County Sex Offender Information?

The New York Division of Criminal Justice Services maintains an online sex offender registry that contains public information on levels 1, 2, and 3 sex offenders. Searches can be conducted by last name, zip code, or county. Members of the public can also filter results to reveal offenders based on their custody status. The registry provides general information on sex offenders, including their known address of residence, work address, conditions of release, and details of the crime they were convicted of. The registry may also provide additional information such as the offender's vehicle information, photos, and any known alias(es).
