The Division of Criminal Justice Services provides a statewide and county crime data report annually. Kings County's 2018 crime data report shows that there were 50,106 total crimes on file. Of this sum, the county recorded 14,384 violent crimes and 35,722 property crimes. The county's total crime count increased by 0.6% from the previous year. Violent and property crime counts increased by 1.4% and 1.5% in the same span. The 2018 index total crime count was the county's highest since 2016.

Comparing the crime categories, Kings County recorded 98 murders, 802 rapes, 4,157 robberies, 9,327 aggravated assaults, 3,585 burglaries, 30,417 larcenies, and 1,720 motor vehicle thefts. Kings County's index crime rate was 1913.8 crimes per 100,000 population, representing a 1.5% increase from the previous year. How to Find Kings County Sex Offender Information

Anyone can access sex offender information via the New York Sex Offender Registry. The Sex Offender Registry, maintained by the Division of Criminal Justice Service (DCJS), is a statewide repository for all registered sex offenders. The Registry provides information on Level 2 and Level 3 or high-risk sex offenders only, according to the New York Sex Offender Act.

What Are Kings County Vital Records

Kings County vital records include birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce records, and death records. As stated in the New York Consolidated Laws, Public Health Law, vital records are only available to select individuals, which include the registrant(s) and close relatives. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Office of the City Clerk keeps Kings County birth, marriage, and death records.
