Criminal Statistics

Statistical crime data across New York counties are managed and disseminated by the New York Division of Criminal Justice Services. According to 2017 reports, Oneida county recorded a moderate decline in crime rate, with only 4,773 reported crimes compared to 2016’s 5,233. Larceny accounted for 68% of the total crimes with almost 3,300 reported incidents followed closely by burglary with 666 recurrences and rape with 203 incidents. Overall, the county’s violent crimes spiked slightly while property crimes recorded a decline.

The Oneida County Sheriffs Office manages and provides public access to a county sex offender registry, which publishes information on the location, compliance, and conduct of registered sex offenders residing within the county's jurisdiction. Interested persons may search offenders on the database by name or location, or subscribe to the Sheriffs alert system, which provides regular updates about sex offenders on the move, or those within specific vicinities.

Where to Find Inmate and Jail Information

Inmate and jail information of the Oneida County Correctional facility is maintained by the Correction Division of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. The Correction Division Inmate List provides information about currently and recently incarcerated inmates in the facility. Where and How to Get Bankruptcy Records

Records of bankruptcy cases filed in Oneida County from December 2002 to date are managed and disseminated by the Clerk of Courts of the Northern District of New York US Bankruptcy Court.

Interested persons may self-serve using the court's public terminals with which searches can be conducted using details of the debtor and the date of filing or judgment. To make electronic copies, requestors are charged a $0.10 per page fee. Alternatively, requesting persons may send written requests to the Clerk's office. Requests must be accompanied by the contact information of the requestor, a stamped and self-addressed envelope as well as a cheque or money order payment of $.50 cents per page requested. Vital Records

The New York State Department of Health serves as the central repository of vital records for residents of the state. The department processes requests for records of deaths, births, marriages, and divorces from 1963 to date, for all of New York state. In compliance with state laws, the Oneida County Clerk functions as the County Registrar and maintains vital records of persons within its jurisdiction. Persons interested in obtaining Oneida County marriage records may do so by requesting it from the town or city where the license was obtained, or by querying the New York State Department of Health. Whichever the case, marriage records will only be issued to the spouses or persons with a New York state court order.
